About Our Unit

Hartlepool Sea Cadet unit is one of around 400 Sea Cadet units across the United Kingdom. We're our own registered charity in England & Wales and we're affiliated to our parent organisation the Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC).

We're based at our unit headquarters on Hartlepool Marina giving us easy access to the excellent water facilities that the marina has to offer. We spend a lot of time on the water during the summer months and we're one of only a few units locally that's able to offer the full range of Sea Cadet waterborne activities. Our fleet currently consists of:

1 x Rigiflex Power Boat
2 x Rigid Inflatable Boats
1 x ASC Rowing Boat
1 x Trinity Rowing Boat
2 x Topper Sailing Boats
1 x Bosun Sailing Boat
2 x RS Quest Sailing Boats
1 x Laser Pico Sailing Boat
4 x Kayaks

When the weather's not great, or in those winter months, we spend time training on land at our recently purchased building. We offer just as much variety off the water as we do on it and activities vary from Adventure Training, Cooking, Shooting, Physical Training, Football, Swimming, Drill, Band and many many more. It would be impossible to list them all here.

Each part of the country is split up into sections of Sea Cadet units called Area's. There are 6 Areas across the country which are further split up into Districts. We're part of Northern Area which covers North East England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our district is Teesside and as well as us this includes Sea Cadet units at Stockton, Middlesbrough, Gisborough and Redcar. We often work with these units on district training weekends and compete against them at district competitions.
