Join Us - Adult Volunteers
As an Adult Volunteer with us you'll be able to choose to either become a uniformed instructor as a Sea Cadet or Royal Marines Cadet Instructor; or a non-uniformed instructor. Either way, you'll be volunteering your time to provide instruction and guidance to young people between the ages of 10 to 18 years old from Hartlepool and the surrounding areas.
If management is more your thing, you may prefer to join the unit as a member of the Unit Management Team. As a member of the UMT you'll be a trustee of the charity and you'll be part of the team that has overall responsibility for finances, health & safety and the unit’s charitable status amongst other things. The UMT usually meets once a month but this can vary depending on the ongoing developments with the unit.
All new Adult Volunteers are required to provide two references and will be required to pass a Disclosure & Barring Service check before being fully enrolled into the unit. Once these initial checks are complete you will be required to attend an Adult Induction Course within the first 6 months of your service which will give you a good understanding about the organisation and the safeguarding of young people which you'll be working with.
Once the induction process is complete, if you're an instructor you'll have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of activities which you'd like to instruct in and we'll provide all the training you need for you to be able to.
We meet at the unit on Monday & Thursday evenings between 6:30pm and 9:30pm.
To join as an Adult Volunteer you must be at least 18 years old. If you're younger you may be able to join as either a Junior, Sea Cadet or Royal Marines Cadet.
